Beautiful and incredibly well-preserved black silk shirtwaist circa 1908.
It is a very lightweight, semi-sheer silk and features lace trim, pintucks, embroidery, and insertion stitching.
Button closures halfway up the back and hook and thread closures on the upper portion going up the back of the neck.
The original tag is still present and indicates it is a size 36 and by a maker F&B or B&F.
Some of the insertion stitching looks like spider webs!
The front has a Gibson front or pigeon front, typical of the Edwardian era. Loose fitting three quarter length sleeves are fitted at the cuffs.
A spectacular piece!
Meant to be worn a bit loose in the bust area, so keep this in mind. It is marked as a size 36.
28.5" max waist
39" bust
12" at the smallest (uppermost) neck circumference
21" total length
Lovely condition overall with some minor flaws to note:
Wearable with care! No odors.
This item is not new, and as such, it has wear commensurate with age. As with all older vintage and antique items, please handle with care.
