A very old bell with original leather strap and Brass buckle. A wonderful example of a Swiss bell. This bell was likely hung from cows, goats and sheep and features an old hand stitched leather patch. Many shepherds were utilitarian by trade re-using the bell for whatever flock was grazing. Bells like this aided the farmer in not only finding his flock but identifying his animals. This bell is in wonderful vintage condition and has been preserved with a leather conditioner and a light cleaning of the brass. If desired this bell would polish to a mirror finish however we leave that decision to the next owner. We tend to fall in love with the patina a bell develops over time.
